WASHINGTON, D.C. – Catholic scored a pair of second-half goals to defeat McDaniel 2-0 in non-conference men's soccer action on Wednesday.
Sean Best (Adamstown, Md./Tuscarora) made eight saves for the Green Terror (3-8-2) in goal while Cam McGrory has seven stops for the Cardinals (9-3) at the other end.
After a scoreless first 50 minutes, Mike Brennan found Ben Fernandez at the 5:09 into the second half for a 1-0 lead.
Mike Bennan doubled the advantage, finishing an Alex Sagastume feed in the 86th minute.
Catholic finished with a slim 18-15 advantage in shots.
Max Rutherford (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) had five shots while John LaRocca (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) registered four.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Washington (Md.) on Saturday. Game time is 2:30 p.m.
