Gillen scores twice
TOWSON, Md. – Taking a season-high 22 shots, McDaniel scored a season-high three goals in a 3-1 non-conference men's soccer victory at Goucher on Monday.
Matthew Gillen (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) scored twice for the Green Terror (3-6-1), who outshot the Gophers (5-6) by a 22-17 margin.
Tommy Gray broke up the shutout with a penalty-kick goal in the 85th minute.
Max Rutherford (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) found Gillen for a 1-0 lead with just 9:52 elapsed.
With 11:30 to play in the first half, Marrio Davis (Baltimore, Md./Friends School of Baltimore) found Gillen for a 2-0 halftime advantage.
Nathan Greenwood (Bethesda, Md./Blue Ridge) stretched the lead to 3-0 with an unassisted tally in the 73rd minute before Gray converted with 5:17 on the clock for the final margin.
