The lower, the better

Mount Union edges McDaniel 1-0 in opener

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – One goal was all Mount Union was able to muster but it was all the Purple Raiders needed for a 1-0 non-conference men's soccer victory over McDaniel at the Lycoming Kickoff Classic on Saturday.

Zach Nibbelink (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) made three saves for the Green Terror (0-1), who finished a slight 13-12 edge in shots.

Kevin Cindric scored the lone goal for Mount Union (1-0), tallying in the 53rd minute.

Thomas Beck played a ball to Cindric, who put it in the lower-right corner for the game's lone marker.

Jon Critell made four stops for the Purple Raiders.

Shane McCracken (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) led the offense with three shots.

McDaniel takes on Polytechnic (N.Y.) in the consolation game on Sunday. Game time is 11 a.m.
