Late tally lifts Haverford
Robinson scores in 87th minute to lift Fords over McDaniel
WESTMINSTER, Md. – David Robinson scored with 3:07 to play, breaking a 1-all deadlock and lifting Haverford to a 2-1 win over McDaniel in the Centennial Conference (CC) men's soccer opener for both teams on Saturday.
Eddy Lingue (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) scored in the 24th minute to stake the Green Terror (3-4, 0-1 CC) but the Fords (3-1-1, 1-0 CC) had the final say to snap an eight-year winless streak in the series.
Alejandro Rettig y Martinez scored with 1:27 to play in the first half to even the score at the break.
Robinson made it a one-goal, one-assist day with his winning tally.
Luis Calderon (Silver Spring, Md./Bullis) had the assist on Lingue's tally.
Zach Nibbelink (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) made five saves for McDaniel while Jamey Applegate made four saves for Haverford.
McDaniel returns to action at Wesley on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
