Early goal lifts McDaniel

Lingue first-half tally stands in 1-0 win over Wilkes

YORK, Pa. – Eddy Lingue (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) scored at the 16-minute mark to lift McDaniel to a 1-0 non-conference men's soccer win over Wilkes in the first round of the Country Inns and Suite Tournament hosted by York (Pa.) on Saturday.

The Green Terror (2-2) finished with a slim 15-14 shot advantage to advance to Sunday's championship tilt against the host Spartans, who defeated Medaille 3-0.

Kaleb Smith made two saves in net for the Colonels (0-4), who had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Marrio Davis (Baltimore, Md./Friends School of Baltimore) played a ball through to Lingue, who beat the Wilkes keeper on the right post for the 1-0 lead – and only goal of the contest.

Zach Nibbelink (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) made three saves.

Game time on Sunday is 3 p.m.
