Green Terror tally twice in first half as part of 3-1 win at Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Micah Powell (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) recorded two assists to help McDaniel record a 3-1 victory at Haverford in the Centennial Conference (CC) men's soccer opener for both teams on Saturday.

The Green Terror (4-4, 1-0 CC) notched a pair of goals in the game's first 33:06 en route to evening its overall record despite being outshot 19-10 by the Fords (2-3, 0-1 CC), including by an 11-4 margin in the second half.

Donald Dokas (Sykesville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) split the defenders with a long pass to David Cross (Odenton, Md./Arundel), who found the back of the net for his third tally of the season at the 23:31 mark.

In the 31st minute, Adam Dolbey (Marydel, Del./Caesar Rodney) finished the first of Powell's two helpers for a 2-0 lead.

At the 57:14 mark, Alejandro Rettig y Martinez headed a ball into the lower-left corner to slice the deficit in half.

Marrio Davis (Baltimore, Md./Friends School of Baltimore) tapped in a pass off a Powell breakaway down the left side with 10 seconds left for the final margin.

Benjamin Knight (Acton, Mass./Boxborough-Acton Regional) made three saves for McDaniel while Jamey Applegate matched him with three stops for Haverford.

The Green Terror returns to action at Ursinus on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
