GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Kyle DeBlois recorded a goal and an assist, including the game-winning goal, to lead Gettysburg to a 3-2 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men’s soccer action on Saturday.
The Bullets (9-4-4, 5-2-2 CC) finished with advantages of 22-13 and
14-3 in shots and corner kicks, respectively, to earn the No. 2
seed in the upcoming CC tournament.
Joseph Potucek (Germantown, Md./St. Johns at Prospect
Hall) scored both goals for the Green Terror (4-11-1,
1-7-1 CC), who scored more than one goal in a game for just the
second time in 16 games this season.
Knotted at 2, DeBlois headed in his own rebound with 3:39 to play
for the unassisted tally that proved the difference.
After a scoreless first half, DeBlois chipped a ball through the
midfield that Chris Bayon popped past a charging
goalkeeper just 1:31 into the second half.
In the 61st minute, Donald Dokas (Sykesville,
Md./Loyola Blakefield) found Potucek to knot the game at
1.
Eric Hynes found the back of the net at the 76:59
mark before the same Dokas-to-Potucek combination knotted the game
once again just over two minutes later.
Michael Ratcliffe (Kingville, Md./Perry Hall) made
10 saves for McDaniel while Adam Finkel had three
saves at the other end.
