McDaniel makes lone goal stand to even record
TOWSON, Md. – Shawn Weaver (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Twp.) finished a solo run in the 62nd minute to lead McDaniel to a 1-0 victory over Goucher on the final day of the 2008 Goucher Soccer Classic in non-conference men’s soccer action on Sunday.
The Green Terror (1-1) held an 11-7 advantage in shots but the
Gophers (1-1) finished with the 10-1 edges in corner
kicks.
The two teams played a scoreless first half keyed in large part by
Justin Holbrook’s six saves for
Goucher.
After being shut out for the first 150 minutes of the season,
Weaver found the back of the net at the 61:24 mark to break the
deadlock and give McDaniel a split in its opening weekend of
action.
Robert Hollasch (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) made
one save to pick up the shutout between the pipes.
The Green Terror returns to action at Stevenson on Wednesday. Game
time is 4 p.m.
