WESTMINSTER, Md. – No. 7 Dickinson rallied with three of the four fourth-quarter goals to top McDaniel 9-8 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action on Wednesday.
Bryan Ruygrok (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) led the Green Terror (5-5, 0-2 CC) with 12 saves in the cage.
Tyler Strods recorded four goals and two assists for the Red Devils (7-1, 2-0 CC), who won their third straight one-goal game.
Trailing 7-6 entering the fourth quarter, Tucker Carney found the back of the net to even the game for the second time with 10:59 to play.
Just nine seconds later, Carney found Strods to give the visitors their first lead of the game.
The defenses locked down for the next seven-plus minutes until Nick Goles was able to break through, finishing a pass from Strods with 2:14 remaining.
Dickinson won the ensuing faceoff and bled the clock until a stall warning with put on with 56 seconds remaining. The Green Terror forced a turnover and had a look in transition but couldn't convert and the Red Devil won the chase to the sideline.
Strods opened the game, scoring for Dickinson just 57 seconds into the game.
Cooper Archambault (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island), however, scored twice in a 32-second span to turn the one-goal deficit into a one-goal lead.
Dylan Chaikin (Gaithersburg, Md./Quine Orchard) finished a pass from McNichol for a 3-1 lead with 5:03 to play in the opening quarter.
Carney closed the deficit to one with 3:05 to play but McNichol returned the favor for Chaikin a minute later to push the lead back to two.
Chase Hartman (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) picked up a loose ball and finished from distance for a 5-2 lead with 90 seconds to play in the opening period.
Goals by Strods and DeMuth at each end of the second quarter closed the margin to one at halftime.
Quinn Lykens (Baltimore, Md./Towson) stretched the lead back to two with 10:24 showing in the third quarter before Strods and Alex Hosker drew the Red Devils even four minutes later.
Chaikin scored just 14 seconds later on a pass from Hartman directly off the faceoff win to reestablish the one-goal lead.
Will Kroppe (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) led the defense with five ground balls and three caused turnovers while Robert Breed (Medway, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) added five ground balls and two caused turnovers.
The Green Terror returns to action at Washington (Md.) on Saturday. Game time is 12 p.m.
