COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus scored nine of the game's final 10 goals to rally for a 12-6 Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse victory over McDaniel on Saturday.
Sean Brett (Hamilton, N.J./Notre Dame) netted three goals to lead the Green Terror (6-8, 3-4 CC), who will need to win its season finale at home against Gettysburg and get help to make the conference tournament.
Mark Stratton led the Bears (7-6, 3-3 CC) with three goals.
Trailing 5-3 after Patrick Serio (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) scored 3:40 into the second half, Logan Panaccione responded 64 seconds later to draw the hosts back within one.
A Steve Smyrl solo run knotted the game with 3:05 to play in the third quarter.
Smyrl then found Steve Mussoline 44 seconds into the fourth quarter for a 6-5 lead.
Back-to-back Stratton tallies pushed the advantage to 8-5 just 1:10 later.
A Panaccione unassisted tally made it a four-goal lead with 10:40 to play before Mike Neal scored 58 seconds later for a 10-5 lead.
Brett broke up the run of seven straight goals with 9:15 to play before Smyrl and Stratton scored 1:19 apart to set the final margin.
Serio opened the scoring, converting a man-down tally just 3:52 into the game before Jason Lawrence (Fallston, Md./Fallston) doubled the advantage with 8:29 showing in the first quarter.
Mike Durst trimmed the deficit in half after one quarter before Brett stretched the lead back to two 45 seconds into the second quarter.
A Neal man-up tally and Weber solo run evened the game with 6:48 to play before Brett finished from Serio to give the Green Terror a goal advantage 5:04 before the intermission.
Zach Bicho (Millstone, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton) went 11-for-21 at the X with six ground balls.
