WESTMINSTER, Md. – Haverford scored a pair of goals in a seven-second span in the first quarter to key a 4-3 Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse victory over McDaniel on Saturday.
DJ Rickels (Forest Hill, Md./Boys Latin School of Maryland) led the Green Terror (4-5, 0-3 CC) with two goals.
Four different players scored for the Fords (2-6, 1-2 CC), who got 10 saves from goalkeeper Joe Banno.
Will Sangree staked Haverford to a 1-0 lead with 12:42 to play in the opening period before Scott Chanelli won the ensuing faceoff and went straight to goal for a 2-0 lead.
JS Duke (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) cut the deficit in half with an unassisted marker at the 11:31 mark of the second quarter before Zach Cohen extended the lead back to two with 16 seconds to play in the first half.
A Duke-to-Rickels man-up goal with 11:36 to play in the third quarter once again pulled the hosts within one before Christian Clay pushed the lead back to two with 49 seconds to play in the period.
Michael Woglom (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) found Rickels with 7:03 to play in the fourth quarter to set the final margin.
McDaniel finished with a 34-21 advantage in shots and 23-16 edge in ground balls.
The Green Terror returns to action at Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. Game time is 4 p.m.
