ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – Mike Filler (Baltimore, Md./Open Bible Christian Academy) posted a round of 74 to lead to McDaniel to a third-place finish at the Elizabethtown Spring Blue Jay Classic in men's golf action on Thursday.
As a team, the Green Terror fired a round of 303 – its lowest round of the spring – on the 6,299-yard, par-71 Hershey Country Club East Course to finish 14 strokes behind tournament champion, Messiah. The Falcons carded a round of 289 while Franklin & Marshall was second with a round of 296 to lead a field that saw the top nine teams all fire 320 or better.
Filler finished tied for fifth with his three-over par round.
Steven Tanen (Laurel Hallow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) finished tied for 19th with a score of 77.
Cody Mewhirter (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) rounded out the McDaniel competitors with a round of 81 to finish tied for 44th.
The Green Terror returns to the same course for the Hershey Cup on Sunday and Monday. Tee time is 8 a.m. both days.
