DESTIN, Fla. – James Lillie (Garret Park, Md./Walter Johnson) carded McDaniel's lowest round at the NCAA Division III men's golf championship, posting a round of 74 in Wednesday's second round at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.
The Green Terror posted a round of 311 to make it a 36-hole total of 638 and finish tied for 28th overall. McDaniel missed what turned into a low cut line by 32 strokes. The top 15 teams after two rounds advance to play in the final two rounds of the championship on Thursday and Friday.
Lillie finished his two days with a score of 157 to tie for 99th place overall, joining his teammate Alex Kane (Danvers, Mass./Masconomet Regional). Kane posted a score of 76 on Wednesday.
Steven Tanen (Laurel Hallow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor), who registered the Green Terror's low round on Tuesday, carded a round of 81 on Wednesday to finish with a score of 159 and 113th overall.
Playing the par-72, 6,636-yard Links course in the second round, Cody Mewhirter (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) improved by eight shots over his day on the Raven course, firing an 80 to finish with a 168 and in 167th place.
Alex Matos (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) finished with a round of 92 to post a score of 177, which ranked 199th individually.
