Connaughton fires season-low 73

HERSHEY, Pa. – Logan Connaughton (Matawan, N.J./Matawan Regional) fired a season-low round of 73 to finish tied for fifth and lead McDaniel to a third-place finish at the 2011 Elizabethtown Blue Jay Fall Classic in men's golf action on Thursday.

The Green Terror, whose starters were playing their only one-day tournament of the season, combined to shoot a total of 304 on the East Course of the Hershey Country Club.

Stevenson won the team title with a score of 300 while Messiah carded a 301 to finish second at the 19-team tournament.

Greg Bowman (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) posted a round of 75 to finish tied for eighth.

Kyle Chittim (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) and Cody Mewhirter (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) registered matching scores of 78 to tie for 18th overall in nearly ideal scoring conditions.

Bryan Johnson (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) rounded out the McDaniel competitors tied for 25th with a round of 80.

The Green Terror concludes the fall schedule in its own McDaniel Fall Invitational at the Bridges Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday. Tee time on Saturday is 10 a.m.
