McDaniel tabbed 19th in final poll after championship showing
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The final Golf World/Nike Golf Division III coaches' poll has been released and McDaniel was listed among the 25 teams, finishing 19th in the poll released on Wednesday.
Based on its 19th-place showing at the NCAA Division III men's golf championship at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C., last week, the Green Terror earned its first national ranking of the year.
The standings in the final poll are based on a team's finish at the 72-hole championship. McDaniel shot a 36-hole score of 604 before being the victim of the lowest cut since the NCAA started trimming the field after two days.
The Green Terror was four strokes off the cut line, which took the top 15 teams into the final two rounds of the championship.
Only Christopher Newport (11) and Middlebury (18) had a higher finish than McDaniel among the unranked teams heading into the national championship. The Green Terror had the best finish among the Mid-Atlantic Region teams.
Greensboro, by virtue of its national championship, topped the final ranking.
