McDaniel finishes sixth at Bridgewater
Green Terror card 302 on Saturday to key 36-hole effort against top South Region competition
HARRISONBURG, Va. - K.J. Mazurek (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) shot a two-day total of 152 to lead McDaniel to a sixth-place finish at the Tom Kinder Memorial Inivitional hosted by Bridgewater in men's golf action on Saturday and Sunday.
Playing against some of the top teams in the South Region, the Green Terror carded a 36-hole total of 612, including a 302 in Saturday's round at Lakeview Golf Course.
Bridgewater won the 11-team tournament with a score of 584, firing at 290 on Saturday and a 294 on Sunday. Christopher Newport (586) and Thomas More (593) also broke 600 over the two days, finishing second and third, respectively. Christopher Newport shot the low round of the tournament with a 287 on Sunday.
Mazurek was one of three McDaniel golfers to fire a round of 77 on Sunday to finish tied for 17th after shooting a round of 75 on Saturday. Greg Bowman (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) and Alex Campbell (Howell, N.J./Wall) matched Mazurek for the low round of the day. Paul Kovalcheck (Fairless Hills, Pa./Truman) and Chris Merrill (Kingsville, Md./Fallston) each carded a 79 in the second round.
Merrill finished tied for 21st overall, carding a team-low 74 in the opening round to finish with a two-round total of 153.
Bowman finished with a two-day total of 154 after shooting matching rounds of 77.
Kovalcheck carded a two-round total of 155, shooting a 76 on Saturday while Campbell finished with a score of 158.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Rehoboth Beach Fall Invitational hosted by University of Pennsylvania on Monday, Sept. 28. The one-day, 36-hole tournament begins at 8 a.m.
