WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel will host Muhlenberg in the first-round of the 2014 Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball championship on Wednesday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
The fourth-seeded Green Terror (17-8, 12-6 CC) faces the fifth-seeded Mules (16-9, 11-7 CC). The winner advances to Friday's semifinals at top-seeded Dickinson (20-5, 15-3 CC) in the day's second semifinal.
The day's first semifinal pits second-seeded Franklin & Marshall (17-8, 13-5 CC) against third-seeded Johns Hopkins (15-10, 12-6 CC), slated to begin at 6 p.m. The day's second semifinal will begin at 8 p.m. or 30 minutes following the conclusion of game one.
The championship game will held on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Admission for all games is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Youths 12 and under as well as students from participating institutions, who present their ID, are free.
The tournament's champion will earn the CC's automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division III tournament, slated to begin on Thursday, Mar. 6. The NCAA field will be announced on Monday at 12:30 p.m.
McDaniel is seeking its first CC championship and berth in the NCAA tournament.
Phillip Perry (Crownsville, Md./Annapolis Area Christian) leads the team in scoring (9.0 ppg). He is also second on the team in both assists (43) and steals (24).
Wesley Brooks (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) is second on the team in scoring (8.6 ppg) and rebounding (4.8 rpg) and leads the way with 52 assists, 40 steals and 42 3-pointers.
Evan Pupelis (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) leads the team in rebounding, averaging 5.4 rebounds per game.
