McDaniel in ECAC field

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel will travel to Albright for the first round of the 2013 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) South men's basketball tournament on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.

The Green Terror (14-11) earned the No. 8 seed and will take on the top-seeded Lions (20-6) in the quarterfinals of the eight-team tournament. McDaniel is making its first-ever ECAC appearance.

The winner of Wednesday's game will meet the winner of the matchup between No. 4 La Roche (16-9) and No. 5 Bethany (16-10) in one of Saturday's semifinals. The other semifinal will pit the winners of the No. 2 DeSales (21-6) and No. 7 Moravian (14-11) and No. 3 Juniata (18-9) and No. 6 Medaille (18-10). Matchups will take place at the site of the highest remaining seed.

The championship game will take place between the two semifinal winners on Sunday.

Senior Tyler Rudd (Glen Burnie, Md./Glen Burnie) leads the Green Terror in scoring and rebounding this season, averaging 15.6 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game.

Sophomore Andrew Merlo (Rehoboth, Del./Cape Henlopen) is also averaging double figures in the scoring column at 11.8 points per game and is second on the team with 55 assists.

Junior Evan Pupelis (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) is second on the team in rebounding (6.9 rpg) while sophomore Phillip Perry (Crownsville, Md./Annapolis Area Christian) leads the squad with 57 assists.
