Bach tallies first-half goal

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg scored the first two goals of the game en route to a 6-1 victory over McDaniel in a key Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey game on Tuesday.

Sarah Bach (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) led the Green Terror (4-10, 3-4 CC) with a first-half goal.

Kit Towers paced the Bullets (6-6, 4-3 CC) with a goal and two assists.

Samantha Wright staked Gettysburg to a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute, tipping in a Towers cross from the left side.

Julia Soares doubled the advantage with eight minutes remaining in the first half, dribbling in front of the cage and finishing to the right side.

Bach blasted home an Emily Farrell (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) penalty corner from the left wing to make it a 2-1 game at the 30:32 mark.

Towers took a long pass from Soares and touched in a goal to push the lead back to two in the 43rd minute.

Hannah Fitzgerald finished an unassisted tally just over 10 minutes later to push the lead to 4-1.

Tori Sankey stretched the advantage to 5-1, touching home a Towers pass in the 57th minute.

Wright notched her second of the game less than two minutes later, one-timing a hard cross from Lily Neibart over the keeper.

Gettysburg finished with advantages of 23-8 in shots and 14-6 in penalty corners.

The Green Terror returns to action at Haverford on Saturday. Game time is 12 p.m.
