Reynolds tallies twice
WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel jumped out to another quick 2-0 lead en route to a 3-1 victory over Swarthmore in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action on Saturday.
Sara Reynolds (York, Pa./Central York) tallied twice to lead the Green Terror (8-5, 3-3 CC), who jumped on top early for the second straight game, building a 2-0 lead in the first 8:17 of the game.
Katie Teleky led the Garnet (8-6, 3-4 CC) with the squad's lone goal.
Lara Haab (Gladwyne, Pa./Country Day School of Sacred Heart) finished an unassisted tally just 5:17 into the game before Reynolds finished a Paige Messersmith (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) assist exactly three minutes later.
Teleky trimmed the deficit in half at the 11:58 mark before Messersmith and Reynolds connected once again with 5:01 to play in the first half, setting the final score.
Swarthmore finished with a 23-19 advantage in shots and 19-10 advantage in penalty corners.
Vicci Alexander (Annapolis, Md./Archbishop Spalding) made 15 saves to improve to a perfect 4-0 in her four starts. Danielle DeColli (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) added two defensive saves while Bayley Vohs (Millerstown, Pa./Greenwood) had one.
The Green Terror returns to action at Gettysburg on Tuesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
