Reynolds tallies late
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus scored the game's first three goals en route to a 3-1 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action on Saturday.
Sara Reynolds (York, Pa./Central York) scored the lone goal for the Green Terror (4-5, 1-3 CC), breaking up the shutout in the 67th minute.
Megan Keenan and Nora Kornfeld led the Bears (4-4, 2-2 CC) with a goal and an assist apiece.
Kornfeld found Keenan off a corner just 3:51 into the game.
Ursinus finished the first half with an 11-6 shot advantage in the first half but did not find the backboard again until Keenan returned the favor 5:39 into the second half, finding Kornfeld for a 2-0 lead.
Juli Pilla finished off a Samantha Macchio assist at the 62:46 mark for a 3-0 lead.
Off a corner, Paige Messersmith (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) passes left to Reynolds, who converted at the 66:09 mark for the final margin.
The teams were even in shots (6-all) and penalty corners (5-all) in the second half.
Caila White (Delmar, Md./Delmar) and Brittany Dolson made four saves each.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Dickinson on Wednesday. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
