Kauffman tallies first

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Wesley broke a 2-all deadlock with 11:23 to play in the first overtime to defeat McDaniel 3-2 in non-conference field hockey action on Friday.

Jayde Kauffman (Oley, Pa./Oley Valley) recorded her first career goal for the Green Terror (0-1), who finished with a slim 19-18 advantage in shots.

Madison Leone gave the Wolverines (1-0) the victory with an unassisted goal in the 82nd minute.

Kauffman cleaned up a long Sara Reynolds (York, Pa./Central York) hit off a corner in the 13th minute to stake McDaniel to a 1-0 lead on her first collegiate shot.

Rachel Joyner knotted the game just 2:25 before the intermission on a third-chance attempt.

Katie Corson(Ocean View, N.J./Ocean City) knocked in a Paige Messersmith (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) shot-and-defensive save to put the Green Terror back on top 2-1 in the 57th minute.

Jessica Franklin found Lindsey Martin 6 minutes, 13 seconds later to knot the game with 7:05 to play.

Caila White (Delmar, Md./Delmar) made nine saves in her first start for McDaniel while Elizabeth Groom had 11 stops.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Roanoke on Saturday. Game time is 3 p.m.
