ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley held McDaniel without a second-half shot after scoring late in the first half for a 1-0 victory in the quarterfinals of the 2011 ECAC Mid-Atlantic field hockey tournament on Wednesday.
Stephanie Thomson (Glen Burnie, Md./Chesapeake) made 11 saves for the Green Terror (10-8), who entered the tournament as the No. 8 seed and had to travel to the top-seeded team in the eight-team field.
Jocelyn Novak scored for the 16th-ranked Flying Dutchmen (15-5), tallying her 32nd marker of the season in the 30th minute.
Novak collected a rebound that fell behind the keeper and cleaned it up at the 29:23 mark.
Lebanon Valley finished the game with a 22-6 advantage in shots, including 9-0 in the second half. The Flying Dutchman also had 12 corners to the Green Terror's three.
