Green Terror downs Washington 1-0 in key conference game
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Katie Corson (Ocean View, N.J./Ocean City) scored in the 25th minute to lift McDaniel to a 1-0 victory over Washington (Md.) in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action on Saturday.
The Green Terror (7-8, 4-4 CC) forged a tie with the Shorewomen (6-9, 4-4 CC) for the fifth and final playoff position with two games to play. The pair hold a half-game advantage on Franklin & Marshall, which has only one conference game to play.
Stephanie Thomson (Glen Burnie, Md./Chesapeake) made five saves for McDaniel while Shannon Davis had one save.
With 10:07 to play in the first half, Katie Jones (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) found Corson for the junior's fifth goal of the season.
Washington finished with a 15-7 advantage in shots and 16-2 advantage in penalty corners.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Johns Hopkins on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
