Boerman scores twice to lead Green Terror past York

YORK, Pa. – Kaitlin Boerman (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) scored twice to lead McDaniel to a 3-2 victory over York (Pa.) in non-conference field hockey action on Wednesday.

Boerman notched her first two-goal game of the season, scoring both in the first 10:50 to stake the Green Terror (6-8) to an early advantage a day after being shut out by conference-foe Gettysburg.

Katie Dawkins paced the Spartans (8-8) with a goal and an assist.

On the first shot of the game, Boerman blasted a hard shot for a 1-0 lead just 1:18 into the contest.

Dawkins crossed the ball to Jillian Brezgel, who finished on the far post to even the game only 3:22 later.

Lindsay Riordon (Monkton, Md./Hereford) found Boerman for a 2-1 McDaniel advantage before 11 minutes had elapsed in the contest.

A Katie Jones (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) penalty stoke 3:40 into the second half stretched the lead to 3-1 before Dawkins set the final margin on a rebound shot in the 48th minute.

Stephanie Thomson (Glen Burnie, Md./Chesapeake) made nine saves for the Green Terror, who were outshot 13-11 in the game.
