McDaniel opens conference with win
Green Terror score on each side of halftime for 2-0 win at Bryn Mawr
BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Lindsay Riordon (Monkton, Md./Hereford) scored McDaniel's first goal of the season in the 34th minute to help her team to a 2-0 victory at Bryn Mawr in the Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey opener for both teams on Wednesday.
Katie Jones (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) added a second-half insurance goal for the Green Terror (1-1, 1-0 CC), who outshot the Owls (0-2, 0-1 CC) by a margin of 40-5.
Faith Westdorp made 29 saves in goal for Bryn Mawr while Stephanie Thomson (Glen Burnie, Md./Chesapeake) made four stops at the other end.
With 33:03 elapsed, Riordon knocked home a rebound to break up the shutout.
Just 8:41 into the second half, Kaitlin Boerman (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) found Jones on one of McDaniel's 11 penalty corners to double the advantage.
Boerman and Jones had eight shots apiece in the Green Terror's 11th straight win over the Owls.
McDaniel returns to action against Christopher Newport at the U.S. National Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va. Game time is 12 p.m.
