Yoder hat trick carries Bears past McDaniel

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Megan Yoder scored three goals to lead fourth-ranked Urisnus to a 10-0 win over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action on Saturday.

The Bears (13-2, 7-0 CC) finished with a 38-11 advantage in shots and 21-5 advantage in penalty corners.

Stephanie Thomson (Glen Burnie, Md./Chesapeake) led the Green Terror (6-7, 4-2 CC) in the cage with 13 saves.

Alyssa Thren got Ursinus on the board at the 11:18 mark before Yoder doubled the lead just 36 seconds later.

Thren, who also finished with a hat trick, made it 3-0 in the 19th minute before Jesssica Zatwarnicki made it 4-0 with just under five minutes to play in the first half.

Thren stretched it to 5-0 just 13 seconds into the second half.

Zatwarnicki added a second goal in the second stanza and Michelle Wimmer netted two.

McDaniel returns to action at home against No. 15 Gettysburg on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
