At the annual award ceremonies that McDaniel College holds each spring, 25 Green Terror student-athletes were among the honorees. On Apr. 29, the College recognized more than 30 undergraduate students at the annual Spring Awards Ceremony. On May 18, the College held its annual Senior Investiture and Honors Convocation, where 41 academic and activity/leadership awards were given to graduating seniors.
McDaniel College has announced its Dean’s List from the Fall 2017 semester and 129 Green Terror student-athletes, including 37 first-semester students, qualified for the honors. In addition, six student-athletes were named to the Green and Gold Honor Roll.
Taylor Bauman, a junior, and Kristen Upton, a senior, were named the Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year in their respective sports. Bauman and Upton were two of 30 Green Terror spring student-athletes named to the CC Fall Academic Honor Roll.
Seven members of the McDaniel football team have been named to the All-Centennial Conference team. Matt Schleifer was named to the first team while Bamasa Bailor, Jared Staub, Drew Scott and Joey Cornwell were named to the second team. Chris Inge and Spencer Wiersberg were tabbed honorable mention.
Matt Schleifer led the Green Terror with six catches for 77 yards and a touchdown. He also added 87 return yards to finish with 164 all-purpose yards on the day. Susquehanna scored the final 20 straight points to defeat McDaniel, 33-10.
Andre Henry Jr. hauled in four catches for 50 yards but none were bigger for the Green Terror than his final – a 25-yard touchdown grab in the back of the end zone in overtime. McDaniel built a 20-6 lead but then needed an overtime touchdown to defeat Gettysburg, 27-20.
