Beard returns for his second season as the Green Terror linebackers coach after two seasons on the Allegheny staff.
In his two seasons with the Gators, Beard worked with the outside linebackers and helped the squad to a pair of 5-5 seasons. In addition to his duties with the outside linebackers, Beard coordinated the team’s strength and conditioning program in 2012.
Prior to joining the Allegheny staff, Beard served as a strength and conditioning intern at James Madison, where he worked with the baseball, softball, track and field, men’s soccer and men’s tennis programs. In addition to providing general aid for the athletic program’s speed and agility training, he designed and instructed team workout and weightlifting sessions. He has also served as a strength and conditioning intern at Elite Sports Performance and has four years of coaching experience through camp instruction at the Century Knights Football Camp and the Randy Edsall Football Camp at the University of Connecticut.
A 2011 graduate of Shenandoah, the Carroll County native earned his bachelor of science in kinesiology exercise science.
Beard played his final three collegiate seasons at linebacker and defensive end. In 2009, he was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first team and to the USA South All-Academic Team in 2008 and 2009. Following his senior season, Beard was presented with the Walter Barr Unsung Hero Award.
