WESTMINSTER, Md. – The 2013 Maryland National Guard Crab Bowl Powered by Under Armour will be held at McDaniel College's Kenneth R. Gill Stadium on Dec. 21.
The annual Maryland State High School Football All-Star Game began in 2008 and features the most outstanding senior football players from the State of Maryland. Players are divided on to two teams; those from the Washington, D.C. area, south and east, play as part of the "Washington" squad while players from Baltimore, north and western part of the state play as part of the "Baltimore" squad. The game has previously been played at the PG Sports and Learning Center, Bowie State University and Towson University.
"We are excited to bring the Maryland Army National Guard Crab Bowl to McDaniel College. As an alumnus, McDaniel College has always been a special place for me and my family. Now, with the addition of Gill Stadium, McDaniel is not only a place with a great football tradition but a great football venue as well" said Sean O'Conner, a 1998 graduate of the College. "The Crab Bowl attracts the top football talent in the state, and provides exposure for the state's best to some of this country's finest institutions of higher learning. We are excited to have the opportunity to partner with a place like McDaniel, to make this a quality experience for these young men and give them a small taste of what it is like to play in the college ranks."
The weekend, which begins with a personal development event for the participants on Friday evening, features four football games during the day on Saturday. Youth games are played at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. with the main event for high school seniors following at 12 p.m. An eighth-grade all star game capping off the day at approximately 3 p.m. All four games will be played in the newly opened Kenneth R. Gill Stadium, the centerpiece to McDaniel's unique natural bowl setting, which was dedicated on Nov. 3, 2012. Gill Stadium, seats nearly 1500 spectators in the grandstands, but also allows many more to have a spot at any location around "the bowl".

We believe the work ethic and teamwork demonstrated by these young men and their coaches epitomize the Army Values and the finest traditions of the National Guard," said LTC Amy Bennett, Commander of the Maryland Army National Guard Recruiting Battalion.
"We are extremely excited to have this event move to our campus," said Paul Moyer, Director of Athletics at McDaniel. "We believe our stadium is second-to-none and the perfect venue for an all-star game of this caliber, giving these young student-athletes the first-class experience that our own student-athletes have on a daily basis every fall."
