Rollins, Cousar named to Team of the Week
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Joe Rollins (Temple Hills, Md./Surrattsville) and Mike Cousar (Easton, Pa./Easton Area), seniors on the McDaniel football team, have been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for the week of Sept. 14.
Rollins, the Centennial Conference (CC) Offensive Player of the Week, led the Green Terror (1-1, 1-0 CC) to a 21-14 victory over Moravian, running for 219 yards on 29 carries. He also scored all three touchdowns for McDaniel, covering 44, 21 and 15 yards on his first-half scoring scampers. He also caught an 11-yard pass for 230 all-purpose yards. It was his sixth career 200-yard rushing day.
With the 219 rushing yards, Rollins moves into second place on the program's all-time rushing list with 3,604 career yards. He also moves into ninth place on the CC's all-time list.
In 2013, Rollins has 337 rushing yards on 51 carries with five touchdowns. His yards and touchdowns are both conference bests.
Cousar, a linebacker, made 11 tackles, including two for loss, but his biggest play came in the final 30 seconds of the game. He intercepted a Greyhound pass with 19.8 seconds remaining to give his offense the ball back and seal the Green Terror win.
For the season, Cousar has 22 tackles to lead the team.
The Green Terror returns to action at Muhlenberg on Saturday. Game time is 2 p.m.
