WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel doesn't officially opens its 119th football campaign until next month. The buildup to a Saturday night home opener with Catholic starts with the Centennial Conference (CC) Kickoff Event on Wednesday.
Green Terror second-year head coach Mike Hoyt will join the other nine CC coaches in an interactive multimedia event to take place on Franklin & Marshall's campus, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The day, which kicks off the conference's 31st season on the gridiron, will open with a brief state of the conference address by Executive Director Steve Ulrich before the coaches pair off to move through five stations.
Hoyt will be paired with Jim Margraff, head coach of defending conference champion Johns Hopkins, for the day.
Two of the sessions will be streamed live on the internet while the third will be live Twitter chat.
For Hoyt and Margraff, the first session will be a 1-on-1 conversation with WGAL-TV's Mike Straub, beginning at approximately 10:45 a.m.
Hoyt and Margraff's next session will be the live Twitter chat, beginning at approximately 11:30 a.m. Fans will be able to send their questions using the hashtag #CCKickoff13 on Twitter.
The final session with Hoyt and Margraff that will be streamed is their tradition podium talk, which will begin at approximately 11:50 a.m.
All of the links will be available at www.centennial.org on Wednesday morning. The 1-on-conversation and the traditional podium talk will be live video feeds while the coach responses in the Twitter chat will be sent out via the official CC Twitter account (@CentennialConf) and retweeted through the official McDaniel Athletics Twitter account (@McDanielSports).
McDaniel opens its 2013 practice on Aug. 15 and opens the season at home against Catholic on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m.
