WESMINSTER, Md. - Muhlenberg piled up 413 yards of total offense and the defense pitched a shutout, defeating McDaniel 33-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) football action on Saturday.
Joe Rollins (Temple Hills, Md./Surrattsville) led the Green Terror (0-3, 0-2 CC) with 86 yards rushing. He also had 58 yards on a pair of kick returns.
Dan Deighan threw for 158 yards to lead the Mules (3-0, 2-0 CC) while Terrence Dandridge ran for 100 yards. Deighan ran for another 91 yards.
Keyed by a 12-yard pass play to Michael Long on third-and-10, Muhlenberg took its first possession 84 yards on 11 plays to take a 7-0 lead with 6:05 on the first-quarter clock.
A John Gruver 29-yard punt return set up the the Mules on the McDaniel 24 for its second possession, two Deighan runs doubled the advantage with 3:26 on the clock.
A high snap on a punt on the Green Terror's first possession of the second half resulted in a safety to push the lead to 16-0 with 10:50 to play.
Another Gruver return of 36 yards on the ensuing free kick once again gave the Mules a short field. After five plays and 34 yards, Muhlenberg took a 23-0 lead two minutes later.
A Connor Winter 24-yard field goal and Joe Carlucci two-yard run in the fourth quarter accounted for the final score.
James Price (Baltimore, Md./W.E.B. DuBois) led the Green Terror defense with nine tackles.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Urisnus on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
