Rollins named preseason All-American

LEESBURG, Va. – Joe Rollins (Temple Hills, Md./Surrattsville), a rising junior on the McDaniel football team, has been named to the Beyond College Sports Network (BSN) Division III Preseason All-America second team, released on Monday.

BSN selected Rollins as a third-team All-American following the 2011 season.

Rollins, a running back, was a unanimous first-team All-Centennial Conference selection and second-team all-region nod after leading the team and conference with 1,401 yards rushing as a sophomore. His 140.1 yards per game on the ground was nearly 33 yards a game better than any other back in the league. He carried the ball a CC-high 254 times and found the end zone 11 times on the ground. He had seven 100-yard rushing games, including a program record-tying 311 against Moravian on Sept. 10. Rollins also caught 12 passes out of the backfield for 63 yards and returned 11 kickoffs for 280 yards, including a program-record 90-yarder in the opener against Catholic. Rollins finished the season with a CC-best 1,744 all-purpose yards.

The Green Terror opens the 2012 season at Catholic on Friday, Aug. 31. Game time is 7 p.m.
