MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Sam Cox (Towson, Md./Towson) and Joe Rollins (Temple Hills, Md./Surrattsville), members of the McDaniel football team, have been named to the All-South Region second team, released on Monday.

Cox, a senior defensive lineman, earned a first-team All-Centennial Conference (CC) nod for the second straight year after being named an honorable mention in 2009. In 2011, he finished fourth on the team with 51 tackles, including a team high-tying 14.0 for loss. He also paced the squad and CC with 9.0 sacks and five forced fumbles while breaking up three passes and recovering two fumbles. His tackles-for-loss total ranked second in the conference.

Rollins, a sophomore running back, was a unanimous first-team All-CC selection after leading the team and conference with 1,401 yards rushing. His 140.1 yards per game on the ground was nearly 33 yards a game better than any other back in the league. He carried the ball a CC-high 254 times and found the end zone 11 times on the ground. He had seven 100-yard rushing games, including a program record-tying 311 against Moravian on Sept. 10. Rollins also caught 12 passes out of the backfield for 63 yards and returned 11 kickoffs for 280 yards, including a program-record 90-yarder in the opener against Catholic. Rollins finished the season with a CC-best 1,744 all-purpose yards.

The Green Terror finished the season with a record of 2-8 (2-7 CC).
