LANCASTER, Pa. – Joe Rollins (Temple Hills, Md./Surrattsville), a sophomore on the McDaniel football team, has been named the Centennial Conference (CC) Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 10.
It marks the second straight week and third time in his career that he has been named a conference player of the week. He was named Offensive Player of the Week after a 294-yard day last year against Gettysburg and was tabbed Special Teams Player of the Week last week.
This week, Rollins led the Green Terror (1-1, 1-0 CC) to a 35-14 win over Moravian in the CC opener, matching the program record with 311 yards rushing. He carried the ball 26 times and found the end zone three times. The tailback, making his second career start, ripped off runs of 41, 63 and 72 yards as part of the biggest running day by a Green Terror since 1970.
He became just the second runner in program history and eighth in CC history to eclipse 300 yards.
For the season, Rollins has rushed for 470 yards on 62 carries, leading the conference at 235.0 yards per game. He also tops in the league with 623 all-purpose yards – an average of 311.5 yards per game.
The Green Terror returns to action at Muhlenberg on Saturday. Game time is 2 p.m.
