LANCASTER, Pa. – Jake Nichols (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson), a junior on the McDaniel football team, and Kevin White (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Haverford Twp.), a sophomore, have been named Centennial Conference (CC) Players of the Week for the week of Sept. 11.
Nichols earned the weekly special teams honor while White earned the defensive accolades.
Nichols took over all of the kicking duties for the first time in his career and was a critical part of the 13-10 win by the Green Terror (2-0, 2-0 CC) over Moravian on Saturday.
In the punting game, he uncorked six punts for a career-best 42.5-yard average, including a career-long 63-yarder. As the kicker, he not only averaged 62.8 yards on four kickoffs but also converted his first two collegiate field goals and an extra point. He hit a 34-yarder in the second quarter before adding the game-winner from 25 yards with 11:51 to play in the contest.
White led another solid defensive effort for McDaniel, making a career-best nine tackles and adding three pass breakups.
The Green Terror returns to action at Catholic on Saturday. Game time is 12 p.m.
