Nichols named Special Teams Player of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. - Jake Nichols (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson), a sophomore on the McDaniel football team, has been named the Centennial Conference (CC) Special Teams Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 26.

Nichols averaged a career-best 39.8 yards per punt, booting the ball eight times for a total of 318 yards. He placed two balls inside the 20-yard line without a touchback. He also averaged 54.0 yards on two kickoffs.

For the season, Nichols ranks third in the CC, averaging 37.7 yards on 22 punts in his first season as the team's punter.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Juniata on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
