GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth to break a 2-all tie and defeat McDaniel 4-2 in Centennial Conference (CC) baseball action on Friday.
Evan Finch (Laurel, Md./St. John's College) led the Green Terror (11-17, 4-12 CC) with two hits on the afternoon.
Josh Cubell paced the Bullets (11-21, 5-11 CC) with two hits, including the go-ahead single in the fourth.
Tied at 2-all, Logan Sneed led off the fourth with an infield hit before a Sean Murphy double down the right-field line put runners at second and third.
Cubell followed with a two-run single up the middle for a 4-2 lead.
Matt Szczesny was hit by a pitch with one out in the bottom of the first before a Joe Giovinco infiled single put runners at first and second.
A fielder's choice put runners at the corners with two outs for Murphy, who doubled to right for a 2-0 lead.
A Finch single to the gap plated Nelson from second and tied the game.
Brad DeMartino went the distance on the hill for Gettysburg, allowing eight hits and striking out three.
Nelson went 2-for-3 on the day for McDaniel with an RBI and run scored.
The Green Terror concludes the season at home against Swarthmore on Saturday. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 12:30 p.m.
