GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg scored three runs in the fourth inning to key a 6-0 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) baseball action on Wednesday.
Will Strauss (Freeport, N.Y./Waldorf) led the Green Terror (13-19, 5-10 CC) with a pair of hits.
Connor Tom led the Bullets (21-13-2, 9-6 CC) with three hits.
Chuck Probst led off the bottom of the first with a first-pitch home run to left field, staking the hosts to a 1-0 lead.
Will Anderson led off the fourth with a single before Tom and JJ Lucido each added singles to load the bases.
A fielder's choice cut down the lead run at the plate before Tom was able to beat the throw on home on the next play for a 2-0 lead.
Another fielder's choice and an error stretched the lead to 4-0.
Anderson and Tom singled with one out in the eighth before Lucido drove in Anderson from third for a 5-0 lead.
A two-out single from Tate Frodsham set the final margin.
Chase Stopyra went eight innings, scattering five hits and striking out seven to improve to 4-0 for Gettysburg.
McDaniel concludes the home-and-home series with Gettysburg in Westminster on Friday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
