Chiorello named Pitcher of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. – James Chiorello (East Windsor, N.J./Lawrenceville Prep), a sophomore on the McDaniel baseball team, has been named the Centennial Conference (CC) Pitcher of the Week for the week of Apr. 9-15.

It marks the third time this season that Chiorello has earned the honor.

Chiorello paced the pitching staff, which keyed the Green Terror (19-8, 7-5 CC) to a 5-0 week. He went the distance of a 7-2 victory at Dickinson on Tuesday to pick up the win before getting the final out of a 4-3 game-one victory at Swarthmore on Saturday for the save. He finished the week with six strikeouts and a 1.93 ERA.

Offensively, he added seven hits, including two doubles, with four RBIs and three runs.

For the season, he leads the pitching staff with a 5-2 record and 1.90 ERA. He has four complete games among his 52 innings pitched. He has 44 strikeouts.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Gettysburg on Tuesday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
