LANCASTER, Pa. – James Chiorello (East Windsor, N.J./Lawrenceville Prep), a sophomore on the McDaniel baseball team, has been named the Centennial Conference (CC) Pitcher of the Week for the week of Mar. 19-25.

It marks the second time this season that Chiorello has earned the honor.

Chiorello turned in a one-hitter against Penn State-Mont Alto on Wednesday, allowing just a single unearned run while striking out 12 and walking none. He retired the first 17 batters he faced en route to the second-highest single-game strikeout total in program history.

Offensively, he added a 3-for-9 week as the Green Terror (11-3) extended its program-record winning streak to 10 games. He also had two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored.

For the season, he leads the pitching staff with a 4-1 record and 0.89 ERA. He has three complete games among his 30 1/3 innings pitched. He has 34 strikeouts.

McDaniel returns to action in the CC opener at home against Washington (Md.) on Tuesday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
