Chiorello named Pitcher of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. – James Chiorello (East Windsor, N.J./Lawrenceville Prep), a sophomore on the McDaniel baseball team, has been named the Centennial Conference (CC) Pitcher of the Week for the week of Mar. 5-11.

Chiorello was a key part of the 3-0 start to the Florida trip for the Green Terror (5-3), recording a three-hit shutout in the second game of a doubleheader sweep of Lesley on Saturday.

Chiorello struck out nine batters in the seven innings of work on the mound without walking a batter, helping McDaniel complete the sweep with a 5-0 win.

He has also contributed the offense with two hits, including a home run in Sunday's 7-1 win over New Jersey City.

For the season, Chiorello is 2-1 with a 1.26 earned-run average in 14 1/3 innings pitched, striking out 15 batters against just two walks. Offensively, he is hitting .269 with seven hits, including a double and home run.

McDaniel returns to action against Mass.-Boston on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
