WESTMINSTER, Md. – The McDaniel College Student Athlete Advisory Committee is hosting the Special Olympics of Maryland Basketball tournament on Saturday, March 8 at the Gill Center on campus.
Special Olympics is an organization that celebrates the accomplishments of athletes with intellectual disabilities. Specifically for basketball the athletes work on skills, but also on developing teamwork. The teams are grouped according to ability level, age, and gender.
At McDaniel, we strive to get our student-athletes involved in the event by scorekeeping, being a team representative, or simply coming out to support the teams as they play. This will be an awesome day that shouldn’t be missed! We’d love to see McDaniel staff and students as well as the Westminster community come out to support Special Olympics on March 8. The event will last from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and admission is free.
The NCAA Division III SAAC has a national partnership with Special Olympics.
