Walega tabbed Millard winner
Paige Messersmith earned the Faith Millard Medal recently at the College's annual senior awards convocation. The Millard Medal is awarded annually to the female senior-athlete with the best record in athletics.
Messersmith was been a two-sport standout during her tenure at McDaniel.
On the field hockey field, she was a two-time first-team all-conference selection. She was also an all-region selection. She finished her field hockey career ranked fourth in total points (66), fifth in assists (16) and eighth in goals (25). Her 18 goals and 45 points as a senior were program records for a single season.
On the lacrosse field, she has earned All-CC honors all four years (honorable mention as a freshman, second team as a sophomore, first team as a junior and senior) and is a three-time all-region nod. She was also tabbed an All-American this past season. She set the program and conference record for draw controls with 300. She is finishes in the top eight in goals (129), assists (50) and points (179).
She was also named a MACDA Postgraduate Scholarship winner recently.
